Volunteers walk the Mercia Mile with a smile!

On Sunday 23rd May, the hottest day of the year so  far, 19 Friends of Kairos and a dog participated in Coventry’s Mercia Mile to raise money and awareness for the project.

With the slogan ‘Don’t judge someone before you’ve walked a mile in their shoes’,  volunteers, staff & supporters walked the mile with custom made t-shirts and decorated footwear that highlighted some of the barriers Kairos service-users face. These barriers include: exploitation, abuse, poverty, debt, Substance abuse, fear, loss of confidence, mental health issues, prejudice, and exclusion.

Walkers had a really fun time participating in the Mercia Mile and next year there is already talk of doing the Coventry Fun Run next year and walking further…maybe by 2012 we’ll be running the half marathon!

BIG thanks go to our fantastic volunteers who took part in the event:

Helen, Sarah L, Janet, Katrina, B, Shamillah, Sharron, Becky, Jane, Amy, Barbara H, Tina, Sarah E, Jack, Beth, Suzanne, Lucia, Dave, Dudley

We did it!

And to the wonderful sponsors who supported us.

Watch this space for the grand total raised!
